Power supply to be affected in E Delhi for next 2 days: Discom

Power supply in Mayur Vihar phase I and housing societies and commercial complexes along the Akshardham-Noida road is likely to be affected for the next two days.

New Delhi: Power supply in Mayur Vihar phase I and housing societies and commercial complexes along the Akshardham-Noida road is likely to be affected for the next two days as discom is shifting the electricity towers to make way for setting up of a `East Delhi-Haat`.

"Power supply may be affected on July 23 and 24, between 10 am and 5 pm, in housing societies and commercial complexes along the Akshardham-Noida road, particularly in Mayur Vihar I as BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) have to take a planned shutdown in the area for removal of the electricity towers," a BYPL spokesperson said in a statement.

There is a proposal to set-up a `East Delhi-Haat` near the Akashardham-Noida road in East Delhi. Like the other `Delhi-Haats`, this handicrafts promotion centre, when completed, will be a major tourist attraction, both for Delhiites and the foreign alike.

"The scope of the project requires BYPL to remove the electricity towers installed on the Akshardham-Noida road. The company has started the process of dismantling and removing the electricity towers installed on the Akshardham -Noida road," he said.

In place of these towers, BYPL has already laid underground electricity cables.

"Though BYPL has back-fed the area, there is still a possibility that the power supply may be affected to the housing societies and commercial complexes along the Akshardham-Noida road, particularly in Mayur Vihar I," the statement said.

The `East Delhi Haat` will be supplied electricity from BYPL` Vasundhara Enclave Grid.

Earlier, the electricity towers installed on the connecting national highway (NH) 24 via Hasanpur-Max Hospital have already been removed and cables shifted underground.
