BJD pursuing directionless politics: BJP

Promising rice at Rs 1 per kg and pulses at Rs 5 per kg for the poor in Orissa, the BJP on Monday blamed the BJD of pursuing a "directionless" politics by joining hands with the Left.

Bhubaneswar, March 30: Promising rice at Rs 1 per kg
and pulses at Rs 5 per kg for the poor in Orissa, the BJP on Monday blamed the BJD of pursuing a "directionless" politics by
joining hands with the Left and forging "tactical"
understanding with the Congress.

"Recognising people`s right to food, BJP will provide
rice at Rs 1 per kg and free salt to those living below
poverty line if voted to power. Every poor family will get 25
kg rice per month," BJP general secretary Arun Jaitley told
reporters while releasing their manifesto for Orissa Assembly
polls.

Besides providing dal at Rs 5 per kg and free salt, BJP
also promised Rs 250 bonus to farmers over the minimum support
price for paddy, free power and pension scheme for them and
interest free farm loan for one year.

Hitting out at Naveen Patnaik-led BJD, Jaitley accused it
of repeatedly trying to perfect the art of betrayal and said
the path chosen by it lacked political honesty. "It left a
black spot in Orissa politics," he said.

Stating that it was not in BJD`s nature to abide by
political tie-up, he said BJP could have pulled out of the
coalition government in Orissa after the killing of VHP leader
Laxmanananda Saraswati. "But we were abiding by the coalition
dharma, while our erstwhile partner was not."
