Process of filing nominations begins in Karnataka

The process of filing nominations for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka began on Sunday following the Election Commission notification.

Bangalore, March 28: The process of filing nominations
for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka began
on Sunday following the Election Commission notification.

Seventeen of the total 28 constituencies in the state
would be going to polls in the first phase on April 23.

The first phase of polls would be held in Chikkodi,
Raichur, Belgaum, Bijapur, Gulbarga, Bidar, Koppala, Bellary,
Uttara Kannada, Chitradurga, Tumkur, Bangalore Rural,
Bangalore North, Bangalore South, Bangalore Central,
Chikkaballapur and Kolar.

The last date for filing nomination is April 4 and
withdrawal is April 8. The scrutiny papers will take place
on April six.

Official sources said that 2.57 crore voters are eligible to
exercise their franchise from these 17 constituencies.

The second phase would be held on April 30 in the rest of
the 11 constituencies.
