<br/><br/>Recently, a row erupted over an image of Veena Malik posing nude on the cover of Indian edition of prominent men’s magazine FHM. While Veena denied posing nude for the mag, the magazine insisted that the picture is not fake or doctored.<br/><br/>I have to admit that I'm a little surprised that this ‘tactical’ picture has caused such a stir considering how ‘controversial’ Veena herself is!<br/><br/>No wonder she got selected as one of the contestants of popular Indian reality show ‘Bigg Boss 4’ soon after being labelled as the most scandalous cricket WAG of tainted Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Asif.<br/><br/>While trying to dissect the real story about Veena, I was quite intrigued by this growing tendency of wannabe celebs, who first validate their commitment to debauch and then later disown the act, converting the whole affair into a full blown controversy.<br/><br/>I think Veena knows exactly what she’s doing. Ruffling a few feathers and getting exposure. <br/><br/>Soon after the nude pic came out in the open, Veena Malik filed a lawsuit against FHM after consulting prominent filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt. He had told Veena that she must file a case if she truly believes that she has been taken for a ride.<br/><br/>Now, whether Veena was taken for a ride or not is something to speculate about. But what comes to fore here is that the lady grabbed enough attention from a veteran filmmaker like Bhatt. This might eventually open interesting avenues for her. Veena obviously knows that! <br/><br/>And guess what? Veena has also asked her offenders (FHM) to pay Rs 10 crore as damages. In the notice, Veena states that she has been "materially misrepresented", "deceived" and "induced to take a photo shoot".<br/><br/>And this comes from the lady who while interacting with the media recently said - “If a woman is cool with wearing a burqa, she should wear a burqa. If a woman, being a Muslim, wants to wear jeans, then she should wear jeans.”<br/><br/>Many even claim that it was due to the cries from Pakistani fundamentalists that she had to take this step and file a lawsuit against the magazine. But then again it was she who lambasted the Muslim clergy for raising fingers at her dressing style during her stint in ‘Bigg Boss’.<br/><br/>While Veena is denying posing in the buff, the magazine has officially claimed to have a video of the photo shoot, as well as emails sent to them from her personal ID confirming the shoot.<br/><br/>A section of the industry feels that Veena is now refuting to have posed nude because she fears attracting more trouble in Pakistan.<br/><br/>Only time will tell, if this new strategy of Veena is her way of evading wrath from people back home or it is a way of hogging the limelight for her new reality show, ‘Swayamwar’ season 4.<br/><br/>With the spate of wannabes thronging the big Indian entertainment industry threshold, given its wide panorama and celebrated fellowship, the tactic of using controversy to get exposure is not new. <br/><br/>After all, there's no such thing as bad publicity. Though this may be true sometimes, I don't think it's quite as simple as that.<br/><br/>
