New Delhi: Bollywood's Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan proved his acting mettle to the world with a power-packed performance in 'Dangal'—a biopic based on the life of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, who taught wrestling to his daughters Geeta and Babita.
The film went on to create huge milestones and achieve the impossible. 'Dangal' minted huge moolah not only in India but also across the globe, with people praising Aamir and the entire star cast's efforts.
Aamir's film which released in China recently performed brilliantly crashing the box office windows. According to trade analyst Ramesh Bala, the latest figures stand as:

However, even though it has raked in the Rs 500 crore in China, there is a section of people, reportedly women who criticised the film for being blatantly 'patriarchal'. According to HinustanTimes.com, some have criticised the film. The report originally attributes the news to Global Times newspaper.
HindustanTimes.com quoted a person telling the newspaper: “The father’s values make me vomit; he forces his daughters to live a certain type of life with his dream, with money and becoming a champion. You think the movie is about breaking gender stereotypes, but actually, it’s knee-deep in prejudice.”
Another person has been quoted as saying, “the movie reeks of patriarchy and male chauvinism. The daughters didn’t have any freedom to choose and were raised ferociously by their father to be world champions. The ‘correct result’ in the championship justifies the father’s education.”
However, the views are diverse with majority liking the biopic but the issue of gender equality remains debatable.
Meanwhile, both Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari went on win laurels for the country. The former became India's first female wrestler to win at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. She won the gold medal in 55 kg while her sister Babita Kumari won the silver medal in 51 kg.
