New Delhi: Filmmaker Omung Kumar and Sandeep Singh are reportedly the co-owners of a new venture. The duo is planning to make a biopic on Maharaja Jam Sahib Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji's, life which will star Sanjay Dutt in the main role.

Maharaja Jam Sahib Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji was the ruler of Jamnagar, Gujarat. His biopic, titled as The Good Maharaja has faced opposition from the royal family's daughters.

According to a firstpost.com report originally attributed to Mumbai Mirror, Hershad Kumari and Himanshu Kumari who are the late king's daughters have sent a cease and desist notice to Omung Kumar and Sandeep Singh. The daughters have objected to the possible distortion of facts in the biopic of their father's life.

According to reports, legal representative Faranaaz Karbhari has said -

"The Maharaja was a public figure and if the facts are distorted, it will tarnish his image. Hence our clients have objection to the film, as no permission is sought from them."
However, Sandeep Singh says that there is no point in seeking permission for the biopic.

The same report quotes Sandeep Singh as saying-

"Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji’s story is in the public domain. Even today they celebrate Maharaja Day in Poland. I didn’t think we were required to take the rights from his heirs. Today, people are looking for free publicity. Whenever a project is announced, someone or the other takes on the filmmaker.”

The film is reported to release after a year-and-a-half.
