Mumbai: Soon after the first trailer of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus – Padmavati – was unveiled on October 9, celebrities in B-Town, fans and Twitterarti went gaga over Ranveer Singh’s portrayal of Sultan Alauddin Khilji. Shahid Kapoor who essays Maharawal Ratan Singh and even Deepika Padukone, who plays Rani Padmini were outshined by Ranveer.
The Lootera actor displayed a gamut of emotions – from gluttony to wickedness, pride to lust, desperation to wildness. He swept people off their feet by his jaw-dropping performance. Unfortunately, both Shahid and Deepika could not create an impact like that. And hence, according to a report in DNA, Shahid wants more screen space in the second trailer of the film which may be unveiled in the next few days.
According to DNA report, Shahid is apparently not happy with the response he has got so far and has hence spoken with Bhansali to give his character more time and space in the second trailer.
This is not the first time we have had heard something like this. When Shahid was being considered for the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh, there were similar reports suggesting that Ranveer wasn’t very pleased. In fact, speculations were rife that both Shahid and Ranveer weren’t very happy for some reason or the other. Moreover, Shahid wanted equal space on screen as Ranveer.
And it will be interesting to see who succeeds in leaving an indelible impact on moviegoers – Deepika, Shahid or Ranveer or the trio put together.
Deepika claimed her share of appreciation by leaving audience spellbound by her Ghoomar performance in the first song from the film. A song featuring Ranveer Singh will be unveiled soon reports suggest. Will Shahid too have a song? Let’s wait and watch.
Slated to hit the silverscreen on December in 3D, Padmavati also stars Aditi Rao Hydari, Anupriya Goenka, Jim Sarbh and Raza Murad.
