Washington: Pope Francis blessed thousands of Harley Davidsons and their riders in the Vatican City during the four day celebration marking the American manufacturer's 110th anniversary.

According to Politico, Francis drove up the main boulevard leading to St. Peter's Square, blessing the thousands of people, which became a giant Harley parking lot.

The bikers came from all over the world and took part in an unrelated, two-day pro life rally to commemorate a 1995 encyclical on the inviolability of human life.

The main events of the celebration included Saturday's parade past the Colosseum and other historic landmarks and Sunday's Vatican blessing.

Francis offered prayers for every human life especially the most ''fragile, defenseless and threatened'' without being specific about abortion or contraception.

An estimate of half-million Harley owners descended in Rome for the anniversary, the report added.
