Washington: General Motors Co. is planning to offer a fully integrated Performance Data Recorder on the 2015 Corvette Stingray models expected out later this year.
The system includes a high-resolution GPS receiver, a microphone recording the cabin, and a forward-facing 720p camera embedded behind the windshield that combine to output a stream of data to an SD card in the glove box, the Verge reports.
The Peformance Data Recorder is a high-definition camera mounted on the windshield trim that records the track from the driver's point of view from inside the car while a microphone picks up sound, the report added.
According to the report, the performance recorder is geared for track-day enthusiasts, who want to share their hot laps on YouTube.
