New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki is set to launch a brand sedan- Maruti Ciaz in September or early October, according to various media reports.
Maruti will start pre-launch bookings for the car on September 3. The booking amount is Rs 21,000.
The car aims to compete with Honda City and Hyundai Verna and is expected to be in the price range of Rs 7.50-10 lakh.
Ciaz is likely to hit the market in six variants: three petrol variants and three diesel variants. The sedan is expected to come with features such as steering-mounted audio controls, reverse parking sensors, ABS, height adjustable driver's seat, rear AC vents, driver arm rest and electrically-adjustable mirrors.
The petrol engine will be the 1.4-liter four-cylinder K-Series producing about 95 PS (93.66 bhp) and 130 Nm of torque while the Fiat-sourced 1.3-liter Multijet engine will put out 90 PS (88.73 bhp) and 200 Nm of torque.
Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh is promoting and featuring in the commercial of Ciaz. The car was first revealed at 2014 Delhi Auto Expo as a concept car.
According to sources, the production of the car has already started and is in full swing at the Manesar plant.
