Now that you’ve seen what the new Tata Zest is all about, we take a closer look at all the goodies you can find inside the cabin.

The Zest is no doubt a very important car for Tata Motors. The Chakan-based auto maker wants to break away from its purely functional and almost rural image to deliver a small sedan that is absolutely ready to take on the needs and demands of 21st century car buyers. Apart from the revolutionary new REVOTRON engine and the appealing design of the Zest, one place where the company has really done its homework is in terms of the car’s interior features.

As part of the ConnectNext initiative, which is one pillar of Tata’s new HORIZONEXT philosophy for its passenger cars, the Zest gets a bang-up-to-date connectivity solution for the cabin. Tata Motors has worked closely with audio-specialist Harman to design and engineer an infotainment system which is supposed to be the best-in-class for the compact sedan segment. At the heart of this system is a 5-inch touchscreen display that offers complete smartphone connectivity through a Bluetooth interface. The seamless smartphone integration also features a voice recognition system that understands users’ commands and also reads out received SMS messages. And for a rich audio experience, this audio system features nothing short of 8 speakers (4 mail speakers and 4 tweeters).

The car’s automatic climate control system (which Tata calls FATC – Fully Automatic Temperature Control) is also supposed a first-in-class feature and is integrated into the infotainment system to show temperature data on the car’s touchscreen screen. Even the Zest’s drive-away door auto-locks can be controlled through the touchscreen interface. Apart from the 5-inch screen in the centre console, the instrument cluster also houses a 2.5-inch segmented display which can notify the driver about ajar doors along with giving fuel computation information and gear-shift recommendation, amongst other things. The Zest's newly designed steering wheel offers controls for the complete infotainment system along with the voice command system.

And packed with safety features such as Dual Airbags and Rear Park Assist, the new Tata Zest really makes a strong case for itself in this highly competitive compact sedan segment.
