Gold ends flat; silver remains weak on reduced offtake

Gold prices ended flat at Rs 31,200 per 10 grams in Delhi Thursday on lack of buying support at prevailing higher levels.

New Delhi: Gold prices ended flat at Rs 31,200 per 10 grams in Delhi Thursday on lack of buying support at prevailing higher levels.

However, silver fell further by Rs 700 to Rs 59,300 per kg on reduced offtake by industrial units and coin makers.

Traders said lack of buying support from retailers at prevailing higher levels amid off season for marriages mainly kept gold prices steady.

Reduced offtake by industrial units and coin makers kept pressure on silver prices, they said.

On the domestic front, gold of 99.9 and 99.5 percent purity held steady at Rs 31,200 and Rs 31,000 per 10 grams respectively.

On the other hand, silver ready fell further by Rs 700 to Rs 59,300 per kg and weekly-based delivery by Rs 880 to Rs 59,800 per kg.

Silver coin followed suit and dropped by Rs 1000 to Rs 78,000 for buying and Rs 79,000 for selling of 100 pieces.
