Gold futures dip below Rs 26,000 on overseas cues

Tracking a weak global trend, gold prices slipped by Rs 93 to Rs 25,931 per 10 grams in futures trade Tuesday as participants trimmed positions.

New Delhi: Tracking a weak global trend, gold prices slipped by Rs 93 to Rs 25,931 per 10 grams in futures trade Tuesday as participants trimmed positions.

Besides, low demand from jewellers at spot market put pressure on prices of the precious metal.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in August declined by Rs 93, or 0.36 per cent, to Rs 25,931 in a business turnover of 5,387 lots.

Likewise, the yellow metal for delivery in October traded lower by Rs 74, or 0.28 per cent, to Rs 26,185 per 10 grams in 89 lots.

Market analysts said the fall in gold futures was mostly in line with a weakening trend in the global market as a stronger dollar reduced demand for the precious metals.

Meanwhile, gold lost 0.3 per cent to USD 1,154.28 an ounce in London.
