Gold price falls but holds above Rs 26,000 level

Gold prices fell by Rs 86 to Rs 26,053 per 10 gram in futures trade Wednesday as market participants offloaded their positions even a firming trend overseas.

Gold prices fell by Rs 86 to Rs 26,053 per 10 gram in futures trade Wednesday as market participants offloaded their positions even a firming trend overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold for delivery in August month contracts eased by Rs 86, or 0.33 percent, to Rs 26,053 per 10 gram.

Shiv Shrivastava, MD & CEO, IGuru Research opined gold prices may face an upward push and see a range of Rs 25,750- Rs 26,500 per ten grams in the coming week.

Gold in overseas markets, which normally set price trend on the domestic front, climbed USD 2 or 0.16 percent to USD 1,261.90 per ounce.

Meanwhile, gold extended gains for the second straight day with prices rising by Rs 45 to Rs 27,230 per 10 grams at Delhi bullion market on increased buying by stockists and retailers amid a firming global trend.

Silver also gained Rs 300 to Rs 41,300 per kg.
