Gold prices ended higher by Rs 32 to Rs 26,733 per ten grams in futures trade Tuesday as some of the market participants extended their positions in tandem with a firming trend overseas.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold for delivery in June edged higher by Rs 32 or 0.12 percent to settle at Rs 26,733 per ten grams.
Gold in overseas markets, which normally set price trend on the domestic front, quoted up by 0.1 percent at USD 1,245.68 an ounce after falling to a new four-month low of USD 1,240.61,
US gold futures for August delivery settled up 0.4 percent, or 50 cents, at USD 1,244.50 an ounce.
Meanwhile, gold prices declined by Rs 20 to Rs 27,200 per ten gram at Delhi bullion market owing to slackened demand amid a weak global trend.
However, silver moved up by Rs 350 to Rs 40,700 per kg on increased offtake by industrial units and coin makers.

Gold of 99.9 and 99.5 percent purity fell by another Rs 20 each to trade at Rs 27,200 and Rs 27,000 per ten gram respectively, while sovereign was unaltered at Rs 24,400 per piece of 8 gram.
On the other hand, silver ready rose by Rs 350 to Rs 40,700 per kg and weekly-based delivery by Rs 330 to Rs 39,830 per kg. Silver coins continued to be asked at previous level of Rs 75,000 for buying and Rs 76,000 for selling of 100 pieces.
International markets
Gold in overseas markets, which normally set price trend on the domestic front, last quoted up by 0.1 percent at USD 1,245.68 an ounce after falling to a new four-month low of USD 1,240.61 in intra-day trade earlier.
US gold futures for August delivery settled up 0.4 percent, or 50 cents, at USD 1,244.50 an ounce.
