Gold prices fell by Rs 135 to Rs 25,879 per 10 grams in futures trade Thursday amid a weak trend overseas and profit-booking by speculators.

New Delhi: Gold prices fell by Rs 135 to Rs 25,879 per 10 grams in futures trade Thursday amid a weak trend overseas and profit-booking by speculators.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange(MCX), gold for delivery in October shed Rs 135 or 0.52 percent to Rs 25,879 per 10 grams.

Gold in overseas markets, which normally determines price trend on the domestic front, fell nearly 1 percent as concerns over further losses in the yuan after China devalued the currency this week eased, allowing stock markets and the dollar to rebound.

Spot gold was down 0.8 percent at USD 1,116.41 an ounce, while US gold futures for December delivery were down USD 7.60 an ounce at USD 1,116.00.

Spot prices earlier reached a three-week high of USD 1,126.31, 4.5 percent above last month's low.

Meanwhile, gold continued its upward trend for the sixth straight day and gained another Rs 190 to Rs 26,190 per ten gram at Delhi bullion market today.

Silver also strengthened by Rs 400 to Rs 36,100 per kg on the back of increased offtake by industrial units.
