Here are six things one should know about new iPhones:
1 Thinnest and biggest iPhones ever:
The new iPhones have released two models, 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus.
They represent the biggest screen sizes in the iPhone history. A larger size means more pixels for apps to work with. The new phones have the screen resolution of 750 x 1334 and 1080 x 1920, respectively while the iPhone 5 line had a 640 x 1136.
These two are going to be the thinnest iPhones ever with 6.9mm and 7.1mm width respectively, compared to the earlier 7.6mm for the iPhone 5S.
2 Apple is catching up to the Android world:
Apple is finally catching up the Android world, as not only the size of the phones have gotten bigger, but the power button has been moved from the top of the phone to the right-hand side as Android.
3 Most powerful and power-efficient iPhone yet:
The new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus use a brand new, Apple-designed processor called the A8.
The newly designed processor A8 has 2 billion transistors which makes the iPhone 25 percent faster for ordinary computing tasks and 50 percent faster for graphics.
The new phones will provide a better battery life. Things have been improved even more dramatically for battery life while on calls. You can make calls on the iPhone for 14 hours on the iPhone 6 and a whopping 24 hours with the iPhone 6 Plus, compared to just 10 hours for the previous iPhone models.
4 New iPhones have the most advanced camera:
The new iPhones sports a new sensor that allows the camera auto-focus twice as fast as previous iPhones.
They also support a new slow-motion video feature which can take videos at 240 frames per second and then slow them down to see them at a fraction of their original speed.
The iPhone 6 Plus offers optical image stabilization which automatically detects and offsets slight shakes and blurry movements which helps in producing a crystal-clear image.
5 Faster and more versatile networking capabilities:
iPhones communicate with the broader world wirelessly in two ways i,e wifi and the other is by using a longer-range cellular network.
The new iPhones make a couple of significant improvements over the networking capabilities of previous Apple smartphones.
The iPhone 6 supports the significant wifi upgrade standard, known as 802.11ac, which offers speeds up to three times faster than the wifi chips on the iPhone 5S.
New iPhones will also have the capability to automatically re-route phone calls over a wifi network if cellular service quality is poor.
6 New iPhones will run on the latest version iOS 8:
Apple unveiled the latest version iOS 8 way back in June that runs on iPhones and iPads. It's to be pre-loaded on the new iPhones.
The latest iOS 8 allows applications to "hand off" interactions from one device to another as users move from device to device.
With the new iOS 8 version, the new iPhones have better on-screen keyboards. It also introduces iCloud Drive competing with Google Drive and Dropbox. Icloud iss a service that will allow users to save any kind of file on one machine and have it automatically synchronize on their other devices.
