New Delhi: If you have been frequently charging your iPhone 5 due to battery problem, this news should come as a piece of cake - Apple is replacing batteries of some selected units of the phone that have battery problem.

According to reports, Apple Inc is replacing the batteries of very small percentage of iPhone 5 units that have a faulty battery thereby resulting in a shorter battery life and more frequent charging.

This battery defect is found in those iPhone 5 devices sold between September of 2012 and January of 2013, the reports said adding that Apple has made them eligible for a free battery replacement.

"Apple has determined that a very small percentage of iPhone 5 devices may suddenly experience shorter battery life or need to be charged more frequently. The affected iPhone 5 devices were sold between September 2012 and January 2013 and fall within a limited serial number range," the company said in a statement.

"If your iPhone 5 is experiencing these symptoms and meets the eligibility requirements noted below, Apple will replace your iPhone 5 battery, free of charge," the company added.

To find if one's iPhone 5 is eligible or not, one will have to log into Apple's support site https://ssl.apple.com/support/iphone5-battery/ and put in their phone's serial number.
