Not to be left behind, the USB Implementers Forum took the ocassion to showcase a faster and smaller USB, 3.1 Type-C.

The USB 3.1 Type-C is a standard USB like the ones that are available and used today. However, they are faster with an approximate speed of 800 Mbps and smaller - size of a smartphone charger connector.

They are also reversible and can be connected upside down as well, which is not common in the standard USBs.

The USB 3.1 Type-C also has the capability of higher power output up to 100W, and can therefore power laptops via USB cable.
