Haier, Hisense launch Chromebooks, priced at $149 each

Leading electronics companies Haier and Hisense have launched Chromebooks which will run on the Chrome OS. Both have been competiveley priced at USD 149 each.

Leading electronics companies Haier and Hisense have launched Chromebooks which will run on the Chrome OS. Both have been competiveley priced at USD 149 each.

According to reports, the Chromebook 11 from Haier and Hisence Chromebook are powered by Rockchip's 3288 system on a chip (SoC) which is based on the 32-bit quad-core Cortex 17 design.

The Chromebooks come with an internal memory of 16GB supported by 2GB of RAM. No words on the expandibility of the memory by external means.

They also come with two USB ports, a SD card reader and HDMI output, as well a 720p webcam and WiFi and Bluetooth antennas.

On battery backup, Haier promises Chromebook 11 comes with 10 hours of battery life while Hisense chromebook promises 8.5 hours of battery life.
