New Delhi: Motorola seems to be on a winning spree. Followed by the tremendous response for Moto G and Moto X, it's time for the Moto E which the company launched yesterday.
The server crash on Flipkart - exclusive online retail partner for Motorola - bears testimony to the howling anticipation that the device has from smartphone users in the country. Motorola had launched the Moto G in February, followed by Moto X a month later, exclusively with online retail major FlipKart. Moto E is the latest offering in its exclusive tie up.
With the Moto E the company intents to take on Samsung, Nokia, Sony and home grown Micromax, Karbonn, Lava et al.
The Moto E has a 4.3 inch display, slightly smaller than the Moto G. With a screen resolution of 540 x 960 qHD and a 256 ppi pixel density you can be assured of crisp and sharp visuals on the phone. A Corning Gorilla Glass 3 has been given to the phone that will protect the display against scratch and a 'water-nano coating' for water resistance.
Running on the Android KitKat 4.4, the Moto E is bound to give a fierce competition to other smartphones in the range. The Moto E is being touted as India's 'cheapest Android KitKat powered' smartphone. Apart from the Nexus 5, Moto X, Moto G and Karbonn Titanium Hexa no other phones at this level runs the updated Kitkat 4.4 operating system.
The Moto E certainly has the most powerful processor in the affordable range. With a dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 A7 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz you can't ask for more. Clubbed with a 1GB RAM, the phone has 4GB internal memory which is expandable upto 32 GB.
You will have a smooth gaming experience, thanks to the phone's Adreno 302 400 MHz single core graphics card on the phone.
The only dampener could be the missing front-facing camera of the phone. The dual- SIM device has a 5 megapixel rear camera capable of capturing FVWGA video too. However, looking at the overall specs and features of the phone, one can easily compromise on the front camera. The phone comes in 20 user-removable back covers with nine colour options though a non-removable battery could be irksome for some users.
The phone comes with a Li-Ion, 1980 mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0, Micro-USB, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS with GLONASS and an FM radio with 3.5mm audio jack.
Over the last few weeks a slew of smartphones have been announced in the sub-Rs 10,000-12,000 category. From the Nokia Lumia 630, to the upcoming Lava Iris X1, all the phone makers have lined up their smartphones in the affordable range.
But measly at a price of Rs 6,999, Motorola Moto E is clearly a winner in its class.
