Nintendo to launch new consoles for emerging markets

Japanese gaming giant Nintendo is reportedly set to release new consoles for emerging markets as early as next year.

Washington: Japanese gaming giant Nintendo is reportedly set to release new consoles for emerging markets as early as next year.

According to The Verge, the products will be built from the ground up to serve these markets, rather than repurposing existing hardware.

CEO and president Satoru Iwata reportedly said that the company wants to make new things, with new thinking rather than a cheaper version of what it currently has, adding that the product and price balance must be made from scratch.

The move comes after the company's Wii U console turned out to be a flop show.
