New Delhi: It had to happen and it is happening - Microsoft Corporation is rebranding Nokia Lumia and calling it 'Microsoft Lumia'.
The US tech giant Microsoft is set to drop the brand name Nokia from its future mobile phones and it could happen by year end.
The official Nokia Facebook page in France, Nokia France, posted a statement, ‘In the coming days, you will receive a message from Facebook about changing the name of this page. We are on the verge of becoming ‘Microsoft Lumia’.
Following this post, it is believed that the rebranding will start in France by year end and spread to other parts of the world eventually.
With the change in name, the Nokia brand account name on social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter will be replace by 'Microsoft Lumia'.
Microsoft bought Nokia for USD 7 billion in April and has, since, started rebranding the company starting with Microsoft Mobiles instead of Nokia Phones.
Lumia 730, Lumia 830 and Lumia 930 are said to be the last smartphones from the Finnish phone maker with the name Nokia Lumia.
