Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 specs revealed

Galaxy Mega 2 will run the latest Android 4.4.3 KitKat OS.

New Delhi: After a series of recent launches, South Korean smartphone maker Samsung has readied another product. The new gadget from Samsung--Galaxy Mega 2--has appeared online in the GFXbench test results.

The Galaxy Mega 2 handset, touted to be the successor of the Galaxy Mega series, will feature a 5.9 inch screen with a 1,280 x 720 pixels screen resolution, as per media reports.

Reports also have it that the device will house a powerful 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 CPU, 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. It will also pack a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera with a 4.7-megapixel front-facing shooter. It will run the latest Android 4.4.3 KitKat OS.

The South Korean giant has launched its new tablet 'Tab S' for Rs 37,800 onwards, to further strengthen its position in the Indian market.

According to IDC, Samsung is the second player in the global tablets market with 22.3 percent share in Q1 2014 compared to Apple's 32.5 percent share in the same period.

According to industry body MAIT, tablet PC witnessed a muted growth of 76 percent in 2013-14 compared to triple digit growth in the last two years as fewer entry-level models were introduced.

The sales for 2013-14 stood at 3.35 million units as against 1.9 million units in 2012-13. MAIT expects the segment to grow only by about 27 percent in FY 2014-15 as consumers opt for more higher screen sized smartphones.
