New Delhi: Samsung's latest version of the Galaxy smartphone is officially on sales in India with a price tag of Rs 51,000-53,000.

The Samsung Galaxy S5, which was launched at the Mobile World Congress 2014 at Barcelona in February, went on sale in India along with the rest of the world.

It was launched in India on March 28 and was available for pre-booking the next day.

The worldwide sale comes a day after the South Korean company announced that it was facing a second consecutive quarterly decline in profit.

Therefore, there is much riding on this flagship smartphone which has received mix reviews from critics who said the 'wow' factor was missing despite new features such as dust-proof, waterproof and finger scanner.

Samsung Galaxy S5 will be available in four colours - black, white, blue and gold.

The smartphone features a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED (1080 x 1920p) display and is powered by an octa-core processor with 2GB RAM.

It has a 16GB internal memory that is expandable to 128GB via a microSD card. It also features a 16MP rear camera and a 2.1MP front-facing camera.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 also features a finger scanner and S Health, a personal fitness tracker.

About the high pricing, Samsung India said people would not mind the pricing as long as they get quality for it.

"I think the Rs 50,000 barrier got broken when we launched the Galaxy Note 3, for which we have got a very good response. People are looking for value and for a quality product, they don't mind paying," Vineet Taneja, Samsung India Country Head (IT and mobile division) had said earlier.
