Samsung unveils A8, its slimmest smartphone

Available in China, the Galaxy A8 sports an all-metal body which has a 5.7-inch 1,920x1,080-pixel OLED screen.

New Delhi: South Korean giant Samsung has launched a new Galaxy A8 smartphone which is its slimmest smartphone yet, which measures 5.9mm in thickness.

Available in China, the Galaxy A8 sports an all-metal body which has a 5.7-inch 1,920x1,080-pixel OLED screen.

It sports a 16MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, 2GB of RAM, a 3,050mAh battery and a fingerprint sensor.

The smartphone comes with an 1 gigahertz eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor. It runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop) operating system.

The Galaxy A8 is selling only in China at a starting price of 3,199 yuan (about $515). Samsung hasn't revealed any information about availability in the US or Europe.

In terms of connectivity, the Galaxy A8 is LTE-compatible along with HSPA, GSM, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi and microUSB.
