Samsung's Z1 Tizen smartphone set for India launch in January

South Korean smartphone maker Samsung will be launching it's Z1 smartphone in India that will run on Tizen operating system on January 18, according to various media reports.

New Delhi: South Korean smartphone maker Samsung will be launching it's Z1 smartphone in India that will run on Tizen operating system on January 18, according to various media reports.

The smartphone is expected to be priced around Rs 6,000.

Earlier, the company was expected to launch the smartphone around Diwali this year. After missing the deadline, Samsung will finally launch it next month. It is being said that the company will use India as the test market for the affordable smartphone.

According to reports, the handset carries a 4-inch WVGA display. It will be powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz processor coupled with 512MB RAM. Other features of the smartphone include a 3.2-megapixel camera and support for 3G and Wi-Fi. On the software front, the Samsung Z1 will run on the Tizen 2.3 operating system.

Connectivity options that are expected include Bluetooth 4.0; GPS/ A-GPS; GLONASS; Wi-Fi (802.11n), and Micro-USB.
