Mumbai: Videocon Wednesday launched 4K ultra high definition (UHD) smart television and plans to reach it to 100 cities across the country by Diwali.

"4K UHD will be the country's most feature-packed television. This is a very niche segment and we are expecting a sales target of 5,000 units per month by Diwali, which will make us the market leader," Chief Operating Officer C M Singh told reporters here.

The 4K UHD LED, manufactured at Videocon's Arungabad plant, will initially be available in Mumbai, Thane and Pune followed by Delhi, Hyderabad and Chennai.

"Initially, the 4K UHD LED will be available in select cities in phase one. We are planning to roll out distribution of 4K UHD LED in top 100 cities by Diwali," Singh said.

With the new range of 4K UHD LED Smart TVs, the company aims to increase its market share in the flat panel display (FPD) segment to 20 percent from the current 16 percent, Singh said.

The model has innovative features like 3D gaming and face recognition, 8.3 megapixels and ability to connect with the smart phone's N Screen interface.

It comprises five new models in different screen sizes between 40 to 85 inches, starting from Rs 91,000.

Videocon Director Anirudh Dhoot said: "With this launch we are targeting a 50 percent increase in our TV sales when compared with last year. As 4K is the future, we will continue to expand in this segment."

N screen and Home Cloud technology will enable the users to share media from the phone directly through WiFi, and Wireless Display will allow effortless streaming of movies from the mobile device to the HDTV.
