New Delhi: Apple's major software update is finally here- the iOS 8. Apple unveiled its major software update for its mobile devices at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco recently.

The new software will include “HomeKit” and “HealthKit”.

At the same event, Apple also unveiled OS X Yosemite, an update to the software used in the company’s desktops and laptops.

Let's have a look at some intresting features of iOS 8

HomeKit: HomeKit will enable the users to control their household appliances, including their doors and lighting through their smartphone.

Photos: Along with some new editing features, iOS 8 will also launch iCloud Photo Library which will save all the photos on the device along with the edited ones.

TouchID: Breaking all the grounds iOS 8 will allow the phone’s inbuilt fingerprint scanner to be used to authorise things like bank transactions for the first time.

iCloud Drive: Apple launched its own cloud services- iCloud Drive, wherein users can upload any type of file on to the Cloud and then access it from any device.

Keyboard: Apple has also introduced predictive typing for its QuickType keyboard, which is smarter and personalised than ever, it will take context into account, such as who the recipient is and in which app users are typing.

HealthKit: Healthkit is designed as a central hub for health information on your device. Health works with third party wearable technology like the Nike Fuelband and enables users to bring its data together with other apps like Endomondo, combining it all in one place. Apple is working with healthcare providers to enable remote transmission of health data between a user and their healthcare professional.

The release date of the operating system has not yet been revealed, but both the software updates- iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite are likely to be available to the public in autumn this year. Apple will also be bringing out the iPhone 6 at around the same time as the new software's debut.
