Hands on: LG unveils the world’s first 4K OLED TV in India

The twain – 4K and OLED finally meet in this unique amalgam that sees OLED self-lighting pixel technology with the resolution of Ultra HD 4K.

LG took the wraps off the world’s first 4K OLED TV for the Indian market with one simple message ‘only perfect black makes perfect colour’. It's the first time OLED technology and 4K resolution have been put into a device together. Harmon Kardon is also a luxury audio brand, altogether giving this tv an astronomical price tag.

*The twain – 4K and OLED finally meet in this unique amalgam that sees OLED self-lighting pixel technology with the resolution of Ultra HD 4K.

* The company is powered by LG’s WRGB technology that packs a whopping 33 million colour sub-pixels (About 27 million more than the average FHD display).

*The company is estimating a global sales figure of 1 million OLED TVs for 2016 and has earmarked a budget of $8.5 billion for the category.

*We checked out both the TVs – a 65-incher and a 55-incher priced at Rs 5,79,900 and Rs 3,84,900, at the launch.

*LG firmly believes the curved body offers an immersive experience and claims a response time that is 1000 times faster than the speed of a normal LED TV.

*The four colour pixel technology (that adds a white sub-pixel to the red, green and blue pixels) and the self-lighting pixel technology that adds more depth and realism.

*The TV gets a major shot in the arm with the presence of Harmon Kardon acoustics that add serious bite to the overall AV experience.

*LG’s new Web OS 2.0 makes its debut on this TV
