Union Budget 2014: e-Visa to be introduced at nine airports in India

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday said necessary infrastructure would be put in place within the next six months for this purpose.

New Delhi: In a move to attract more inbound tourists, Electronic Travel Authorisation (e-Visa) would be introduced in a phased manner at nine airports in the country.

In his Budget Speech, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday said necessary infrastructure would be put in place within the next six months for this purpose.

"Tourism is one of the largest job creators globally. The facility of e-Visa will give a major boost to tourism in India. The countries to which e-Visa facility will be extended will be identified in a phased manner," he said.

This would further facilitate the Visa-on-Arrival facility, Jaitley added.
