New Delhi: In one of the latest development in the ongoing probe in 2G telecom scam, the Supreme Court is said to have asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for records of probe against Swan Telecom in the licence auctions.
The apex court is said to have asked the investigation agency for records of probe against the Shahid Balwa company which is allegedly a one of the group companies of Anil Ambani-led Reliance Telecom.
As per a CAG report, Swan Telecom was acting as a front company on behalf of Reliance Telecom when it applied for licences in 13 service areas.
Interestingly, the Corporate Affairs Ministry under the previous UPA government had given a clean chit to the Shahid Balwa company.
Sometime in July this year, while grilling a Reliance ADAG official before a Delhi court had alleging that Swan Telecom Pvt Ltd (STPL) was one of the group companies of Anil Ambani-led enterprise.
CBI, in its earlier charge sheet, had alleged that Reliance ADAG firm Reliance Telecom Ltd (RTL) had used STPL, an ineligible company, as its front company to get 2G spectrum licences and the costly radio waves.
