AirAsia India to induct one more Airbus A320

New Delhi: AirAsia India would soon induct one more Airbus A320 in its fleet, which would help it enhance its flight services during the summer schedule.

The domestic arm of the Malyasia-based airline Air Asia currently has three planes in the fleet to cater to seven airports it operates from in the country.

"The aircraft is ready for induction and will join the fleet on March 28," airline sources said here.
Sources said since AirAsia India was scaling up operations during the summer schedule, the induction of the fourth aircraft would help it operate some new services immediately.

The sources, however, did not divulge how many new flights or new routes AirAsia India had filed in for the summer schedule.

Airlines summer schedule in India runs from March 29 to October 28, every year.

AirAsia India Chief Executive Mittu Chandilya had in late January said the airline would be looking at 100 frequencies per week as part of the summer schedule, which was being finalised at that time.

Chandilya had also said that he had plans to induct one aircraft in the fleet every month from March onwards.

AirAsia India commenced its operations last June and currently flies from its Bengaluru base to Chennai, Kochi, Goa, Jaipur Chandigarh and Pune.
