E-commerce major Amazon on Wednesday announced the launch of two new fulfilment centres in Tamil Nadu aimed at making faster deliveries to customers during the upcoming festive season.

Chennai: E-commerce major Amazon on Wednesday announced the launch of two new fulfilment centres in Tamil Nadu aimed at making faster deliveries to customers during the upcoming festive season.

"Spread across two lakh square foot in Chennai and Coimbatore, the fulfilment centres are aimed at empowering small and medium businesses to reach a wider customer base," a company statement said.

The company already has an urban fulfilment centre here.

"These fulfilment centres will further enable Amazon to support deliveries under the recently launched Prime programme and offer faster delivery," it said.

"As we gear up for the festive season, fulfilment centres will play a defining role in improving the experience of customers and sellers," Amazon India, Customer Fulfilment, Vice-President, Akhil Saxena said.

"For our customers, these FCs bring us closer to them and will not only support our Prime promise of one-day and two day delivery but will also allow us to efficiently serve them this festive season," he said.

Amazon currently has 27 fulfilment centres in 10 states with a combined storage space of 7.50 million cubic feet, it said.
