BHEL commissions 82.5 MW hydro power unit in Uttarakhand

The greenfield hydro electric project consisting of four units of 82.5 MW each, has been set up by Alaknanda Hydro Power Corp Ltd (GVK Group).

New Delhi: State-owned power equipment maker Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) thursday said it has commissioned a 82.5 megawatt unit at the Shrinagar Hydro Electric Project in Uttarakhand.

"With the successful commissioning of the fourth unit of 82.5 MW, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has commissioned the 330 MW Shrinagar Hydro Electric Project in Uttarakhand," the company said in a regulatory filing.

Significantly, all the four units of this project have been commissioned within a span of 60 days, it said.

The greenfield hydro electric project consisting of four units of 82.5 MW each, has been set up by Alaknanda Hydro Power Corp Ltd (GVK Group).

The project is located on the Alaknanda river (near the town of Shrinagar in Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand), a major tributary of the Ganga river.

BHEL is presently executing hydro electric projects of around 4,000 MW which are under various stages of implementation, it said.
