New Delhi: The Civil Aviation Ministry has instructed Air India not to tolerate inordinate delays on behalf of ministers while boarding flights at various airports and not to give any special privileges to Members of Parliament.

To cut down costs further, the airline has been instructed to stop upgrading economy class passengers into business class free of cost.

Sources have also revealed that young and youthful crew members will be deputed to perform their duties on flights whereas older and aged crew members will be deputed to perform ground duty operations.

Going further down the lane the aviation ministry has decided to take certain steps in order to discipline its employees.

The minister has ordered the national carrier to file its progress report on the first week of every month.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that a tender has also been floated for installing biometric machines at all offices of Air India in order to record the attendance of all employees working with the organisation.

The move to introduce biometric attendance recording machines came as the earlier step by the management to install punch-card attendance machines at its offices had failed to achieve its desired objectives.

It has been reported that the punch cards were adamantly misused by Air India employees and that on many occasions the machines have been found in non working and dilapidated conditions at various Air India offices.
