New Delhi: Republican presidential candidate in the US Donald Trump seems to have toned down his rhetoric on 'hire American first' rule.

During the GOP's Presidential debate, Trump, appeared softer on the issue of foreigners coming to America for studying and staying on legally in the country in high paying jobs.

In August this year, he had favored making H-1B visa harder and more expensive for tech companies to replace U.S. workers with foreign professionals.

Trump had said that by raising the prevailing wage paid to H-1Bs will compel American companies to offer high paying entry-level jobs to the domestic pool of unemployed professionals.
