New Delhi: The income tax department report discloses astonishing state of affairs between Delhi-based meat exporter Moin Akhtar Qureshi and ex-CBI Director, who is now a member of UPSC, Attorney General told Supreme Court on Friday.
“It is wholly unbecoming of CBI and I am pained to say that, “ AG told SC on Income Tax report on raids on Qureshi's premises.
Ex-CBI Director used to have conversation with Qureshi in code on daily basis on issues including helping accused in some cases, the AG said.
Qureshi has been under the I-T department's scanner for several months now for alleged tax evasion with sleuths claiming that the turnover of his companies was 'under-reported'.
In a series of searches by the I-T department at various premises purportedly linked to Qureshi, tax sleuths so far claim to have frozen Rs 20 crore in cash and jewellery along with deposits in bank accounts.
