New Delhi: Mobile travel search firm ixigo on Thursday said that it has acquired Square Hoot Hikes, the parent company of Rutogo, an inter-city cabs aggregator for an undisclosed amount.

As per the deal, Rutogo will join ixigo's cabs app by building a marketplace for inter-city taxi owners and vendors, ixigo said in a statement.

Ixigo Co-Founder and CEO Aloke Bajpai said, "This acquisition fits well with our overall strategy of providing comprehensive choice across intra-city and inter-city taxi booking options."

He further said that now ixigo is a comprehensive transportation search with flights, trains, buses and cabs.

"We will be launching outstation taxis in the coming weeks, and will also be opening up the cabs marketplace and partner with other booking apps in the inter-city taxis space shortly," he said.

Rutogo Co-founder Aneesh Rayancha said, "ixigo shares our vision of becoming the leading marketplace for local and outstation cabs."

This is the second acquisition in the last one month for ixigo. Last month it had acquired Desi Backpacking Travellers Pvt Ltd, the company that runs IndianBackpacker.Com, for an undisclosed amount.
