New Delhi: With normal bus and road routes disrupted by the jat quota stir, airlines are charging doubled and trebled fares from harried passengers who are thronging the Chandigarh airport to get out of the area hit by jat agitation.

Believe it or not, business class tickets in Jet Airways' Chandigarh-Delhi flight, via  Mumbai were selling at Rs 99,140 on Saturday! 

The normal fares of Jet Airways, Air India, IndiGo and SpiceJet, which operate daily between Chandigarh and Delhi range between Rs 3,000 and Rs 7,000.

In an opportunistic gesture, the airlines are now selling one-way Chandigarh-Delhi ticket between Rs 20,000 and Rs 53,000.

Key trains halting at Chandigarh or starting from Chandigarh have either been diverted or stand cancelled.

The state-run Himachal Road Transport Corp has also suspended bus services to Delhi and Haryana following protests by the Jat community,
