A 50-year-old chief executive officer of an e-publishing firm has been arrested for alleged possession of 3.88 grams of cocaine worth Rs 20,000 in the illegal market.

Chennai: A 50-year-old chief executive officer of an e-publishing firm has been arrested for alleged possession of 3.88 grams of cocaine worth Rs 20,000 in the illegal market, a senior official said on Thursday.

Sanjiv Bhatnagar, who has been remanded to custody, was arrested moments after he allegedly took delivery of a parcel which contained cocaine from a courier office here yesterday, a Narcotics Control Bureau senior official said.

Bhatnagar had come along with his driver to take delivery of the contraband. However, his driver was let off after it was found that he had no role in either the procurement or use of the drug.

During interrogation, Bhatnagar said he was using cocaine for the past about one year, the official said.

Replying to a query, the official said Bhatnagar had not been booked for any other similar offences earlier.
