Michael Mayer appointed Director of VW Passenger Cars in India

New Delhi: German auto major Volkswagen AG on Wednesday appointed Michael Mayer as Director of Volkswagen Passenger Cars in India with effect from June 1.

He will take over responsibility as the new Brand Head for Volkswagen Passenger Cars in India, the company said in a statement.

He will report to Thierry Lespiaucq, Managing Director, Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt Ltd.
Mayer (45) is currently responsible for Market Planning of Volkswagen Passenger Cars European Sales Division located in Wolfsburg, Germany, it added.

The Volkswagen Group in India is represented by five brands in India: Audi, Lamborghini, Porsche, SKODA, and Volkswagen. It has been present in the country for the last 13 years after entering with the SKODA brand in 2001.

Audi and Volkswagen brands entered India in 2007, while Porsche and Lamborghini brands followed in 2012.
