NTPC sets a record in single-day power generation

State-owned NTPC Ltd, India's largest power generator, has achieved a record highest single-day electricity generation of 733.12 million units.

New Delhi: State-owned NTPC Ltd, India's largest power generator, has achieved a record highest single-day electricity generation of 733.12 million units.

The record generation of 733.12 million units from NTPC's 18 coal-based power plants, 7 gas-based units and 8 solar and hydro power stations, was achieved on August 27, the company said in a statement.

"The Declared Cumulative Capability of the stations was 91.10 per cent and Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 86.34 per cent on the day," it said.

NTPC currently has an installed capacity of 45,548 Mega-Watts (MW) (including 6,196 MW through joint ventures), according to the company website.

During financial year 2014-15, NTPC contributed 25 percent of total electricity generated in India with 16 per cent share of country's total installed capacity as on March 31.

"NTPC recorded gross electricity generation of 241.261 billion units (stand-alone) in 2014-15, registering a growth of 3.42 per cent," the statement said.

Plant Load Factor (PLF) of NTPC's coal stations was 80.23 percent against national average of 64.46 percent. Two stations recorded more than 90 percent PLF.

"All NTPC stations achieved Plant Availability of above 83 percent. Four coal stations of NTPC featured among the top 10 stations of the country in terms of PLF in FY 2014-15," the statement added.
