New Delhi: Only time will announce a verdict on government's ambitious programme 'Start-up India' which aims at facilitating a start-up ecosystem in India.
PM Narendra Modi's 'Start-up India' has generated immense anticipation in the skilled youth of the country. The programme will be unveiled with much fanfare on Saturday in the presence of the big-wigs of start-up industry from India and abroad.
The success of the start-up drive in turning into a movement will need a precise coordination and no ego-laced locking of horns between bureaucrats from different departments and ministries: The Department of Science and Technology, biotechnology, Human Resources and Development, Department of Electronics & Information Technology, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Ministry of Medium and Small Scale Industries, Department of Industrial Policy, Ministry of Finance.
Even though, the Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, during her exclusive chat on 'Start-up India' on Twitter said, that the government is working towards ensuring transparency, simplification and predictability in tax structure, fund-of-funds, easier registration, compliance and exit, a conducive tax regime, stronger incubation network .
The sooner it happens, the better it would be. The Commerce Minister said, "As a facilitator we shall hand hold to ensure that the eventuality(failure) is avoided".
Indeed, but it is not going to be a cakewalk for the government! 'Start-up India' will not succeed merely with a few bundle of announcements There has to be a cultural shift in those hundreds of government departments which are located away from the seat of power in New Delhi.
