RINL saleable steel production up 24% in April-May 2015

Production of hot metal, liquid steel and captive power generation also recorded a growth of 10 percent, 13 percent and 24 percent respectively, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), said in a statement.

Visakhapatnam: Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd Saturday said it has registered 24 percent growth in saleable steel production in the first two months of the current financial year.

Production of hot metal, liquid steel and captive power generation also recorded a growth of 10 percent, 13 percent and 24 percent respectively, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), said in a statement.

RINL, the corporate entity of VSP, registered the best monthly performance since inception in May this year in areas of coke production and average power generation.

The monthly production levels achieved in crude steel and saleable steel were also the highest in the months of April and May compared to previous years.

VSP Chairman and Managing Director P Madhusudan expressed confidence that the production would be ramped up further with stabilisation of expansion units and efforts its RINL staff.

RINL registered a growth of 15 percent in its turnover till May, 2015.

During the period, exports grew three-fold to Rs 395 crore against Rs 131 crore of corresponding period of last year (CPLY).

Sales volume also jumped by 49 percent during the first two months, it added.
