New Delhi: Retail inflation for the month of August fell to multi-year low of 3.66 percent on account of cheaper food prices, including of vegetables, fruits and cereals, as per data released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
The retail inflation based on Consumer Price Index (CPI) was at 3.78 percent in July 2015.
Food inflation measured on Consumer Food Price Index during the month of August 2015, however, rose to 2.20 percent as against 2.15 percent recorded in July 2015, the official data released Monday showed.
As per the official data by the CSO, the Cereal and products inflation stood at 1.22 percent while the vegetables inflation stood at Rs (-)6.36 percent.
Urban inflatin was recorded at 2.65 percent while the rural inflation was recorded at 4.47 percent.
