Vadodara: Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley Monday said he was confident that Goods and Services Tax regime would come into force from April 2016.

Jaitley, while to PTI on the sidelines of a function here, said, "GST bill is a constitutional amendment bill.... We hope that all the formalities required for its adoption by Parliament and consent from half the states will be over for its proposed implementation from April 1, 2016."

Passage of GST and the land acquisition bill would be the priorities of the government in the next session of the Parliament, he said.

As many as 46 bills have been passed by the Parliament in last one year, he noted.

Jaitley today launched 'Karnali 311' mobile application to mark the Narendra Modi-led NDA government's one year in the office.

The application will help villagers of Karnali in the district to communicate with officials about problems with government services quickly.

Jaitley has adopted Karnali group panchayat under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojna.
