Government revokes Vijay Mallya's passport; deportation may follow next

The Ministry of External Affairs has revoked Vijay Mallya's passport, announced the spokesperson of India foreign office. The founder of Kingfisher Airlines is alleged to have defaulted on loans of over Rs 9,000 crore to a consortium of banks.

New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs has revoked Vijay Mallya's passport. The founder of Kingfisher Airlines is alleged to have defaulted on loans of over Rs 9,000 crore to a consortium of banks. The spokesperson of India foreign office, on Sunday, announced through a tweet:

As per reports, the investigative agencies have put out a formal arrest warrant for the business tycoon. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA on Friday said that it has received request from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding deportation of Vijay Mallya from the UK.

The External Affairs Ministry also added that  the central government was committed to bringing liquor baron Vijay Mallya back in India to face justice.

The foreign ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup had said that government is committed to bringing Vijay Mallya back to face justice, and is considering steps for Mallya`s deportation.

Vijay Mallya owns more than Rs.9,000 crore of various Indian banks.
