New Delhi: Growth of core industries grew by 3 percent in June as against 8.7 percent in year-ago period, government showed on Friday.
The eight sectors contribute 38 percent to the overall industrial production, a parameter that the Reserve Bank takes into account while framing its monetary policy.
Coal production increased by 6.3 percent in June. Its cumulative index during April to June, 2015-16 increased by 7.3 percent over corresponding period of previous year.
Petroleum Refinery production increased by 7.5 percent. Its cumulative index during April to June, 2015-16 increased by 4.2 percent over the corresponding period of previous year.
Crude oil production and and natural gas production declined by 0.7 percent and 5.9 percent respectively while that of fertilizer, steel and cement increased by 5.8 percent, 4.9 percent and 2.6 percent in June.
