New Delhi: Hiring activity registered a 22 percent surge in March, mainly driven by sectors like, IT- software, ITeS, telecom and insurance and the bullishness is likely to continue, a Naukri.Com report said.

According to the leading job portal, the Naukri Job Speak Index for the month of March stood at 1,968, recording an increase of 22 percent in hiring activity over last year.

"Post 18 percent growth in February, job market continues to sustain the momentum gained with a 22 per cent growth in March," Naukri.Com Chief Sales Officer V Suresh said adding the growth was primarily driven by sectors like IT, ITeS, insurance and telecom.

"Looks like good times ahead for jobseekers in 2016," he added.

Demand for professionals in IT-software and ITeS has seen sustained growth in the last few months and for March, professionals in these industries saw their jobs grow by 25 per cent and 48 percent, respectively.

Increase in demand for sales and business development professionals was also seen during the period from March 2015 to March this year where the index fluctuated a bit during the year but ended with a 17 percent growth.

Demand for banking professionals also reported a 20 percent year-on-year growth.

Among cities, Hyderabad leads the list in hiring activity with a 50 per cent growth followed by Mumbai and Chennai with 45 per cent and 43 per cent growth, respectively.

Delhi/NCR reported an increase of 42 percent in hiring activity in March this year.
